NEWS !!!

The NEW Subviral RNA Database website is now online with new features: a more graphical look, tools that use the subviral dataset, new user-interactive sections (links, announcements, conferences), new publications related to subviral RNA and a new presentation for newly added sequences. Please take a few minutes to look around and feel free to add your own information for the conferences, links and announcements sections.

COMPILATION OF SUBVIRAL RNA SEQUENCES

A description of this database is available in publication form; i.e., Rocheleau L, Pelchat M. The Subviral RNA Database: a toolbox for viroids, the hepatitis delta virus and satellite RNAs research. BMC Microbiol. 6:24 (2006). Authors should cite this original reference when referring to the database. Interested persons are invited to help in the updating process.

SECONDARY STRUCTURES

Secondary structures were predicted with Mfold release 8.0 (Genetics Computing Group). Sequences selected for secondary structure predictions are the ones likely to be ancestral (F. Bussiere, D. Lafontaine and J.-P. Perreault. (1996) Nucleic Acids Res. 24, 1793-1798). Secondary structure files are available in connect file format following the listing of individual variants. Connect files provide maximum flexibility for subsequent graphic modifications; to visualize the secondary structures themselves, you must have access to a program such as RnaViz or RNAdraw.

DATA SUBMISSION

Submission of new sequences should include supplementary information as seen in the current compilation. Address all communications to Martin Pelchat. User participation and comments will help ensure an accurate web site adapted to the needs of the scientific community.
